MEDITAION: To use our Faithful Imagination to enter into the Advent/Christmas Story will allow that same story to not only inform us of yesterday but transform us for today! With whom do I identify in that story? Who would I most like to be?
CHORAL INVITATION TO THE ADVENT WREATH LIGHTING ADVENT READING & LIGHTING OF THE CANDLES
*INVITATION TO WORSHIP: One: We are not shepherds… All: But we are here seeking to enrich our faith by day. One: Would the presence of the Lord be revealed to us? All: We might be terrified if it were so! One: But imagine…good news…great joy, All: Not just for us, but for all people! One: To us, revealed this day, in the city of Carlisle, a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. All: But this is only Advent, not Christmas! One: To us, this day…God's presence. All: To us, this day…God's presence!

CHRISTMAS HYMN SING WELCOME (Please complete your Gold Welcome Card at this time so it is ready to place in the offering plate later.) PRELUDE Advent expressed that sense of hope, of anticipation, of knowing that God has worked in history, and will continue to work in history. If Advent is a time to celebrate our faith and hope, it is also a time to once again believe.
*INVITATION TO WORSHIP: One: Advent is here. It is a time to get ready for Jesus to be born into our hearts, our homes, and our world. All: But, how do we get ready? One: Isaiah said, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, so that we will learn God's ways." All: God's ways are loving ways, helpful ways, peaceful ways. One: Are we willing to get ready for Jesus? All: Yes! We want to learn the ways of God and to walk in the hope of the coming of the Lord.
PRAYER: Dear God, as we begin today to think about the birth of Jesus and all that it meant to Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds, and the Wise Men, help us to remember what it means to each and everyone of us sitting in this church today. We have gathered in your name to worship and praise you. Open our minds, our hearts, and our souls to not only receive your words, but to understand them. In the name of Jesus, AMEN.

THOUGHT FOR MEDITATION Consider the Call To Worship *Call To Worship: One: "Then King David went into the Tent of the Lord's presence, sat down, and prayed, "I am not worthy of what you have already done for me, Lord God, nor is my family." All: Whether we stand or whether we sit, it is helpful to be in constant contact with our creator, redeemer, and sustainer. One: "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. He was sitting on his throne, high and exalted, and his robe filled the whole Temple." Isaiah 6 All: Long before Isaiah shared God's word with God's people, Isaiah listened to what the Lord had to say. One: "The next day, as they were on their way and coming near Joppa, Peter went up on the roof of the house about noon in order to pray." Acts 10:9 All: Whether at dawn, noon, or dusk, it is essential we remain in touch with the Creator of all time. One: "In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed." Mark 1:35 All: Jesus prayed often that he might sense God's power, presence, and purpose for his life. Having prayed, he then acted out God's will. One: "Be still and know that I am God!" Psalm 46:10 All: Be alive, and reveal that we are children of God!
