WELCOME (Please complete your Gold Welcome Card at this time so it is ready to place in the offering plate later.) PRELUDE THOUGHT FOR MEDITATION "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you." "Goodness is the only investment that never fails. "Thoreau OPENING PRAYER: God of all grace and mercy, whose love knows no limits or boundaries, thank you for welcoming us into your presence. Fill our hearts, merciful God, with the graces of your Holy Spirit, with love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self- control. Teach us to love those who hate us; to pray for those who despitefully use us; that we might be the children of your love. When adversities strike, give us the grace to be patient, and in our prosperity, keep us humble so that we might always be a witness for you. Give us courage, O Lord, to stand up and be counted, to stand up for others who cannot stand up for themselves, and to stand up for ourselves when we feel we must. (Excerpt from a prayer by Nick Bream, Pastor, Pleasant Hill (OH) COB.) HYMN: "There's A Wideness In God's Mercy" 145 PRAYER OF CONFESSION: One: "How are you right with God? All: Only by faith in Jesus Christ. Even though my conscience accuses me of having grievously sinned against all God's commandments, and of having kept any of them, and even though I am still inclined toward all evil. Silent Confession Assurance of Pardon All: Nevertheless, without my deserving it at all, out of sheer grace, God grants and credits to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness and holiness of Christ, as if I had never sinned nor been a sinner, as if I had been as perfectly obedient as Christ was obedient for me. All I need to do is to accept this gift of God with a believing heart, O God. HYMN: "Create In Me A Clean Heart, O God" 128 CHILDREN'S STORY SHARING OF THE COMMUNITY Announcements Joys & Praises Concerns Community Prayer SHARING OUR TITHES & OFFERINGS: Prayer: "Lord God of earth and heaven, you know better than we that plenty can be as great a spiritual burden as poverty. Forgive us…who have so many blessings for taking them for granted…for thinking that they are ours to do with as we please…for squandering so many of them in such irresponsible and irretrievable ways. Remind us that your Son is more precious by far than the things we treasure…more powerful by far than the people and policies we trust…more promising by far than the schemes we try for gaining the world while giving up our souls."
